The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Adedayo Ladega, has distributed 500 free 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to indigent but qualified students across the council area, reinforcing his administration’s focus on youth empowerment and access to education.

The presentation ceremony, held at the council secretariat, drew attendance from members of the legislative arm of the local government, management staff, community and political leaders, educators, parents, students and representatives of the media.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the chairman described the initiative as an investment in the future of the community.

“Today, we are not just giving out JAMB forms — we are giving hope and opportunity. When we invest in our students, we are building the future of Ikorodu,” he said.

The initiative forms part of the administration’s SEED Agenda — Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare and Development — and follows the distribution of free GCE forms to students in August 2025.

In a related development, members of the Ikorodu Deaf Association presented an educative drama performance at the event in appreciation of the council’s support for inclusive education and youth development. The chairman subsequently fulfilled a pledge made earlier in February by donating a modern welding machine set to the association to boost vocational training and promote economic self-reliance among its members.

Observers at the event noted that the dual interventions — academic support for students and vocational empowerment for persons with disabilities — reflect a broader strategy aimed at inclusive development and grassroots impact.

The initiatives underscore the council’s commitment to translating policy objectives into measurable benefits for residents of Ikorodu.
