Police Command Headquarters Kano on Friday paraded 156 suspected criminals for various offenses.

Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shua’ibu Dikko, who briefed newsmen, said 14 kidnap victims were rescued and firearms and goods recovered during raids on the criminals.

Among the suspects paraded were 18 armed robbers, eight kidnappers, 10 cattle rustlers, seven drug dealers, 13 motor thieves, five fraudsters and 95 thugs referred to in local parlance as ‘Yan Daba.’

One of the suspected car thieves, popularly known as Alabukun, was arrested for the sixth time. Dikko said this time the police see to it that he and his sponsors are punished according to the law this time.

Items recovered included: 10 rifles, 16 vehicles, 16 tricycles, three motorcycles, five cows, 76 knives, 34 handsets, five new air conditioners, three bags and 26 parcels of Indian Hemp valued at N2.1 million.

Other recovered items included 18 cartons of expired Diclofenac tablets, 44 packets of Tramadol tablets, 33 packets of Diazapam tablets, 53 Red Sun Robber Solution and 235 pieces of Suck and Die.

“We have sustained raids on criminal hideouts and black spots, incorporated stratified community policing engagements, intelligence-led and visibility policing, rapid response to distress calls, massive campaigns against drug abuse and thuggery; full adherence to the ethics of the force and synergy with sister security agencies and community policing stakeholders.”
