Judicial Services Commission organises induction for newly appointed members

The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, has charged newly appointed Judicial Service Commission members to be well prepared as they will make crucial decisions that impact the lives and careers of staff of the Judiciary, saying the task requires a lot of hard work and diligence.

Justice Alogba, who made the call at a one-day Induction/Training organised for the newly appointed Commission members to enhance their performance while discharging their duties, advised them to deliberate and agree on decisions that will enhance quality service delivery in the State Judiciary.

The Chief Judge, represented at the event by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), who is also a member of the Judicial Service Commission, acknowledged that there are bound to be different shades of opinion among members, but emphasised that they must learn to agree on vital issues for the betterment of the decision-making process.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary, Judicial Service Commission, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, disclosed that the essence of the Induction/Training programme is to highlight the statutory duties, preview structure and scope of the Judicial Service Commission.

According to her, the training will give a deeper understanding of the expected roles of the Commission members, adding that it will also be an avenue to discuss the influence of the Commission on decision making as regards recruitment, promotion and discipline of staff of the Judiciary which are statutory functions of the Commission.

The Executive Secretary further stated that the brainstorming session will expose the participants to the modus operandi of the Commission and the various Laws, Extant Rules and Regulations guiding the decision-making process by the members.

Mr. Seinde Karim, a representative of the participants expressed gratitude to the Commission for the warm welcome accorded the new members and solicited for the cooperation of the Judicial Service Commission staff in carrying out the task ahead.

He promised that the members will not let down the State Government in the discharge of their responsibilities, while strictly abiding with the stipulated rules and regulations of the Commission.
