ISALE IJU GAS EXPLOSION: Toba Oke Mourns Loss Of A Victim, Orders Better Treatment For Others

Ifako-Ijaiye LG Chairman, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, on Saturday described the loss of one Mr. Ezekiel Yomi, who was amongst the victims of last Thursday gas explosion at Isale Iju in Ogundimu community of the council area, very painful, and, therefore, commiserate with his family and the entire residents, just as he directed immediate evacuation of some victims of the unfortunate inferno to government hospitals for better medical care.

Oke, who was at the Trauma and Burns Centre, Gbagada General Hospital to see how victims of the explosion were responding to treatments, following injuries sustained, was told about the passing of one of the victims, who was said to have suffered first degree burns where seventeen (17) others have been treated and discharged and the remaining seven(7) at the hospital were also about to be discharged.

The Council Boss visited the private hospital where some of the other victims were initially admitted, to monitor their wellbeing, but later mobilised an ambulance to convey them all, including a six-month old baby, to Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital for proper management of their health conditions, as well as ensured he, personally footed their medical bills.

He was full of appreciation for the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for prompting the intervention of the state emergency responder agency and other security agencies to swiftly contain further spread and damaging effects of the inferno.
