“Investing in education is investing in life…”- Nurudeen Basheer

The Councilor representing Ward F in the Ikeja Legislative Council Hon Nurudeen Olalekan Basheer on Wednesday distributed free exercise books to pupils of 2 public and 12 private schools within his Alausa, Police-Barrack and Agidingbi communities.

Religious/Political Leaders and members of the community attended the event in their numbers. Hon Basheer who was elated while talking to Lagos Panorama noted that “I believe education is key and I believe investing in education is investing in life itself. These are the reasons I am distributing the exercise books to pupils within my jurisdiction”.

“Although I have done several other activities aside my legislative duties but this one is targeted at our future generations. This affects our children most since they are the end users of the books”.

The soft spoken legislator also highlighted on some of his past activities. “Before now I have worked on the issue of security. The Alausa community had witnessed cases of car theft, burglary issues but with the assistance of the Community Development Association we’ve solved the security challenges. I have also dug a borehole for the community because water is life. This occasion is a major one so I invited all the stakeholder in the community to witness the laudable event and of course you the media”.

The event was also used to honour the most outstanding student of St. Peters Primary School Master Agbabiaje Daniel. Basheer noted that “this is to motivate our pupils to perform outstandingly in their academy pursuit and it’s going to be an annual award”.

Chief Host of the event the former Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government Council and the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Mayor Alani Okikioposu expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the community for their supports for the councilor and the APC during the last party primaries which the leader of the ward and national leader of APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was at the same venue to vote in his ward. The former council boss noted that other councilor should emulate the good gesture of Honourable Nurudeen Basheer. “Nurudeen Basheer has done creditably well and I appreciate him a million times for all he has being doing” the party chieftain acknowledged.

The Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government who was represented by the Vice-Chairman Hon Yomi Mayungbe in a chat with Lagos Panorama said that, “I am very happy for today’s event because the councilor representing ward F has done wonderfully well by distributing exercise  books to the pupils within his ward. He is complementing the efforts of the local government because very soon the local government would embark on the distribution of exercise books to all the schools across the Ikeja local government council” the Vice Chairman hinted.

Also at the event is the Chairman APC Ikeja Chapter Alhaji Dally Adeokun who also expressed his happiness stated that “we are very proud of our councilor who coincidentally is the chief-whip of the Ikeja Legislative council for distributing free exercise books to 2 public schools in his ward is an achievement. I wish him more success and my advice to him is to continue the good work to his ward and Ikeja in general” the party chairman concluded.

The erstwhile Leader Ikeja Legislative Council Hon Edward Arangbafoh also expressed his appreciations for Hon Basheer’s gesture to the pupils in his ward.

Other dignitaries at the event include Dr Bode Tawak Commissioner Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, Supervisor for Education Ikeja Local Government Council Hon Taiwo Dania, Councilors Hon Benjamin Osundairo, Hon Shakiru Agunbiade, Hon Idris Hassan and a host of others.
