The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has deregistered seventy four political parties for failing to meet up with the constitutional requirement of existence.
This now leaves only eighteen political parties in the country after fulfilling the constitutional requirements to exist.
The electoral body said it carried out a review of their performance after the 2019 general election.
Meanwhile, the electoral commission has announced the dates for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.
The vote in Edo will hold on the nineteenth of September while that of Ondo will hold on the tenth of October.
