Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, reportedly arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Sunday
According to sources, Obasa flew into Abuja under darkness, without his usual entourage of aides and security operatives.
Obasa’s arrival in Abuja is reportedly after a failed attempt to meet with President Bola Tinubu in the United Arab EmirObasa
Before embarking on his trip to the UAE, Obasa had travelled to Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, with some loyal lawmakers and the former Clerk of the House, Mr Olalekan Onafeko, who was also removed alongside Obasa.
The reports also alleged that Obasa abandoned his loyalists at various locations around the world while travelling around, fighting for his survival and seeking a soft landing for himself
It will be recalled that Obasa was impeached on Monday, January 13, by 32 lawmakers out of 40 as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. A new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda was immediately elected to replace him.
Obasa’s impeachment was connected to his alleged financial misdealings and his rumoured gubernatorial ambition in 2027.
