Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA for humanitarian reasons being the host Local Council where the accident occurred and in the bid to support the Lagos State Government’s efforts to prevent any health hazard which may erupt from the collapsed 21-storey at Gerrard Road in Ikoyi has through the Environmental Services and Waste Management Department responded to apprehension from members of the public against possible pest infestation and growth of microbes in and around the site of the collapsed 21-Storey building.
The Sanitarians led by the Head of Department carried out disinfestation exercise targetted at control of pest (Rodents and Vermin) e.g rats, roaches, ants, flies building up as well as disinfection in a bid to clear possible microorganisms build up within the vicinity.
According to the Head of Department, Environmental Services and Waste Management, San. Dr. Akingbehin Samuel; this operation was done with the use of environmental friendly and biodegradable chemicals as applied with appropriate equipments like Mist Blowers, knapsacks, Thermal and Cold foggers.
The HOD maintained that all chemicals and equipment deployed for the operation were carefully selected for best result and Environmental protection
