The Executive Chairman of the most urbanized local council in sub-Saharan Africa, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, being an altruistic leader has launched another debut in promoting quality living of residents of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council with ‘Combating Malnutrition Challenge’, a new initiative geared towards providing essential nutrients for rapid growth in children.

Dr. Adebayo Akintayo, the Council’s Medical Officer of Health, in his welcome remarks, commended the efforts of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal for his generosity and concern in his bid to combat Nutrition related challenge among children of the Local Council.
According to the MOH, Nigeria is the 2nd among the countries that are suffering from Malnutrition. He further distinguished between categories of Malnutrition in which Brain Malfunction is one, hence the necessity for distribution of highly nutritious Cereals which has already been scientifically proven as a formidable element of fighting Malnutrition in Children.

While giving the goodies to Parents and Caregivers, the Medical Officer of Health informed every parent that the Cereal is meant for children from 6 months and above. He then implored them to applaud the Chairman’s effort towards the health care challenge.
In the words of a famous Philosopher, Frantz Fanon, “if there is no consideration in your heart towards those that suffer beneath you, then there shall be no room for you in God’s House”. This particular quote is today pointing at Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, a thoroughbred grassroots man who is always concerned about improving standards of living of his people.
The Executive Chairman in his characteristic manner made reference to a Biblical phrase which states “If the foundation is faulty, what would the righteous do?” He challenged every parent present to prepare solid foundation for their children so as to be useful for themselves, for the parents and the society at large in future.
The Council Mayor emphasized that the people of Ikoyi-Obalende are his major priority and his administration will always ensure that people and residents live comfortably at all time.

According to Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, his administration frowns at seeing children being hungry or going through pains and this prompted his administration to distribute highly nutritious cereals for children. He promised to make this exercise a monthly routine if there’s positive feedback from the parents which he said would later be tagged “Tackling Hunger”.
While rounding up, the Executive Chairman promised his people that he will not end the initiative on distribution of Cereal alone, but will soon organize all encompassing empowerment programme in which some funds will be given to every trader to boost their business.
Hon. Kehinde Ajulo, Supervisor for Health while giving the vote of thanks appreciated the presence of everyone and reminded them of the need to ensure children are well fed for rapid growth.
