The exercise, held at the Ikeja Local Government Marriage Registry Hall, was carried out under the leadership of the Council Chairman’s wife, Mrs. Temitope Fausat Dauda, as part of efforts to cushion the impact of prevailing economic challenges on vulnerable members of the community.

Speaking during the distribution, Mrs. Dauda stated that the welfare of widows and senior citizens remains a top priority for the local government administration. She explained that the initiative underscores the council’s determination to ensure that no resident is neglected, especially those in need of care and support.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), reaffirmed the council’s commitment to people-oriented programmes that directly improve the lives of residents. According to him, the distribution of food palliatives is in line with the administration’s broader social protection agenda focused on compassion, dignity, and shared prosperity.

The Council Manager of Ikeja Local Government, who was also present, assured residents that the council would continue to roll out initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups, while complementing broader government efforts to improve living standards.

Beneficiaries of the programme expressed gratitude to the Ikeja Local Government leadership for the timely intervention, describing it as a source of relief and encouragement amid prevailing economic difficulties.
