The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), this morning received members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikeja Chapter, on a courtesy visit at his office in Ikeja House.
The delegation, led by the Chapter Coordinator, Evangelist Rotimi Olufemi Ajayi, offered heartfelt prayers for the Chairman, his administration, and the entire Ikeja community. Several clerics took turns to lead the prayers, asking for divine guidance, wisdom, and strength for the Chairman and his team.
Beyond spiritual support, the CAN leadership also engaged in meaningful dialogue with the Chairman, offering insightful suggestions on effective service delivery. Notably, a member of the delegation raised concerns and proffered advice on addressing the persistent traffic challenges within Ikeja.
In his remarks, Chairman AKOD expressed deep appreciation for the association’s unwavering support during the campaign period, especially their prayers and electoral participation. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration, urging the religious body to continue playing an active role in governance through prayers, constructive feedback, and community-based initiatives.
The Chairman specifically charged CAN leaders to design and implement youth-focused programmes within their churches that address pressing issues such as drug abuse, moral values, and mentorship. According to him, “Our young people must be redirected from the streets and guided toward a future filled with purpose, hope, and responsibility.”
Also present at the meeting were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore (OMITUNTUN), and the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Odubeko.
