The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has called on residents to embrace unity, love and collective responsibility as he marked his administration’s first Christmas in office.
In a Christmas message to the people of Ikeja, Dauda expressed gratitude to God for guidance and protection over the local government, describing the festive season as a time for reflection and renewed commitment to public service.
He thanked residents for their support and confidence since his assumption of office, noting that their contributions and engagement inspired the formulation of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, which he described as a people-driven roadmap focused on inclusive governance, sustainable development and improved welfare.
According to the chairman, his administration has recorded modest but meaningful progress in service delivery, community engagement and institutional strengthening, while acknowledging that more work remains to be done.
Dauda also highlighted what he described as a deliberate effort by his administration to promote inclusivity during the Christmas season, noting that support extended to party members and stakeholders was significantly expanded beyond previous practice.
He said the decision reflected the progressive values of fairness, unity and collective belonging, stressing that inclusive leadership would remain central to his administration’s approach.
“Christmas reminds us of love, sacrifice and togetherness, and it reinforces our resolve to govern with compassion, to listen more and to serve better,” he said.
The Ikeja LG chairman assured residents that their support would not be taken for granted, adding that it continued to motivate his administration to pursue greater achievements for the local government.
He concluded by wishing residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that, through unity and shared commitment, Ikeja would continue on a path of progress and development.
