The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olamilekan Dauda, (AKOD) has demonstrated his passion for sports development and community engagement by providing free live viewing centres for residents to watch the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinal match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Algeria.

The initiative, scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., will see six viewing centres established across the six wards of Ikeja Local Government, enabling football-loving residents to enjoy the match in a safe and friendly environment.
Comrade Dauda, popularly known as AKOD, said the gesture was aimed at fostering unity, promoting communal bonding and giving residents the opportunity to collectively support the national team as they continue their AFCON campaign.
According to the local government, the designated viewing centres are located at 55, Ipodo Road (Ward A); 28, Oluwaleyimu Street (Ward B); 6, Adepeju Street, Onipetesi (Ward C); 1, Oyelola Street, Anifowoshe (Ward D); 47, Seriki Aro Street (Ward E); and Smile Sports Centre, Fagbohun, Alausa (Ward F).
Residents have been encouraged to turn out in large numbers, dressed in green, and attend with friends and family to cheer the Super Eagles to victory.
The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to initiatives that promote youth engagement, recreation and social cohesion, noting that sports remain a powerful tool for uniting communities.
