The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, joined thousands of music lovers and cultural enthusiasts at the grand finale of the 2025 edition of Felabration — the globally acclaimed festival held in honour of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
The colourful event, which took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, marked the climax of a week-long celebration of African music, art, and creativity. The festival drew performers and fans from around the world, turning Lagos into a vibrant hub of rhythm, expression, and unity.
This year’s edition of Felabration was proudly co-sponsored by Ikeja Local Government — a gesture that underscores the council’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent, promoting cultural heritage, and supporting creative enterprise within the Ikeja community.
The Council Chairman attended the event in the company of former Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council, Hon. Adetoro Adebowale, and Prince Adeyinka Illo, among other dignitaries.
Speaking on the sidelines of the festival, Comrade Dauda reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to youth empowerment through art and entertainment. He noted that platforms like Felabration play a crucial role in fostering social cohesion and showcasing Nigeria’s cultural richness to the world.
“Ikeja is the heartbeat of creativity in Lagos, and we will continue to support initiatives that celebrate our people’s talent, innovation, and resilience,” the Chairman stated.
The council’s active participation in Felabration 2025 further highlights its vision of building a vibrant and inclusive community driven by culture, creativity, and youth engagement.
