The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Council, Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Friday joined the apex leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikeja Ward E, on a surprise birthday visit to the residence of party chieftain and former Vice Chairman, APC Lagos West, Chief Funso Ologunde, who clocked 74 on February 13, 2026.
The visit, marked by goodwill messages and prayers, drew prominent party faithful and community leaders who gathered to honour Ologunde’s decades of service and commitment to the progressive movement in Lagos State.
Speaking during the visit, Dauda described the celebrant as a distinguished statesman and a pillar of the party whose contributions have significantly strengthened the APC structure in Ikeja and beyond.
“On behalf of the good people of Ikeja Local Government, I warmly celebrate a distinguished statesman, party pillar, and father of progressive politics in Lagos as you mark your 74th birthday,” Dauda stated.
He noted that Ologunde’s unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to the ideals of the APC have helped shape the party’s growth and stability over the years.
“At 74, your life stands as a testament to selfless service and loyalty to the progressive cause. Your wisdom continues to guide us, your courage inspires us, and your mentorship has produced many leaders who today contribute meaningfully to governance and party administration,” the chairman added.
Dauda further prayed for renewed strength, sound health, and many more years of impactful leadership for the elder statesman, stressing that his legacy transcends years and is evident in the lives he has touched and the political structures he helped build.
Responding, Chief Ologunde expressed appreciation to the chairman and party leaders for the honour, reaffirming his continued commitment to the unity and progress of the APC in Lagos State.
The event concluded with prayers for the celebrant and renewed pledges by party members to sustain the ideals of progressive governance in Ikeja and across the state.
