The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikeja Local Government Chapter has intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Council, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), urging party members to remain united, disciplined and committed to securing electoral victory.
Dauda gave the charge at a strategic Ikeja APC Local Government meeting held at Tokunbo Ali Primary School, Ikeja, attended by the LGA chairman Hon Adetoro Adebowale, other party leaders, Ward Executives, campaign coordinators and other stakeholders.
He emphasised the importance of effective grassroots mobilisation, strict adherence to party structures and improved performance at polling units, urging Ward Chairmen, canvassers and other party officials to intensify voters engagement and work collectively towards the party’s success.
The Chairman also stressed the need to train and prepare young adults as polling agents and canvassers, noting that effective electoral monitoring requires vigilance from the commencement of voting through the final counting of ballots.
He encouraged members to put aside personal grievances and remain focused on the party’s collective objectives, assuring committed and hardworking members of recognition and rewards.
On the empowerment initiative facilitated by the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Dauda disclosed that arrangements had been made to commence call-centre operations on Monday, October 26, to support the initiative targeting nearly 60,000 Ikeja residents.
He explained that the palliative distribution had been structured to accommodate eligible beneficiaries irrespective of political affiliation, with designated collection centres across Ikeja, Ojodu and Onigbongbo. He commended Faleke for his continued support for party members and residents of the constituency.
Dauda also urged eligible residents, particularly young people who had attained the age of 18, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and comply with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
He encouraged party members to promote voter education and direct interested residents to their respective ward chairmen for appropriate guidance.
The chairman further welcomed former women leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from two wards who defected to the APC, describing the development as a boost to the party’s growing grassroots strength.
Earlier, the Ikeja APC Chairman, Hon. Adetoro Adebowale, appreciated party faithful across the Coordinating Campaign Council Committees, and ward structures for their dedication and contributions. He also congratulated all the APC candidates ahead of their electoral engagements and joined Comrade Dauda and other party leaders in welcoming the new members.
Adebowale equally commended Rt Hon Faleke for the empowerment initiative, emphasising the importance of transparency, professionalism and effective administration in building public confidence and goodwill.
Other dignitaries at the meeting included the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Yinka Illo, supervisor for Agriculture and Social Services Comrade Tayo Aderinola and other Supervisors and Special Advisers of the Ikeja Council.
The meeting featured contributions, goodwill messages and songs, reinforcing the party’s commitment to unity, grassroots engagement and coordinated mobilisation as the APC in Ikeja consolidates its structures ahead of the 2027 General Elections and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
