Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has approved the posting of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) to various state commands and formations to strengthen community engagement and communication.

The police boss advised the newly posted officers to foster positive relationships between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the communities they serve.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), reads: “The newly posted officers and their respective portfolios include SP Ayuba Tunni Umma to PPRO Zone 2, Lagos; SP Hauwa Idris Adamu to PPRO Nigeria Police Cooperative; DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi to PPRO Kwara State; ASP Unah Paul Echefunachi to PPRO Ebonyi; ASP Rufa’i Ahmed to PPRO Sokoto; and ASP Musa Mohammed to PPRO Bayelsa.

“Similarly, ASP Abuka Pius has been posted as a Staff Officer to the Public Complaint Bureau of the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“The Inspector General of Police emphasises the importance of community collaboration in policing, urging the newly posted officers to work closely with the communities they serve.”

Also, the NPF said it had taken delivery of printed training manuals, curriculum, office furniture, fittings, and equipment for three police colleges and one training school across the country.

The police said the materials were from the Global Security-Sector-Reform Foundation (GS-Foundation) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with funding from the Federal Republic of Germany to enhance the capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force.

The initiative, police said is part of the ongoing police reform project of the Federal Government.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by Adejobi said: “The donation, which was received by the Inspector General of Police, who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Frank Emeka Mba, addresses the needs of police colleges in Oji River, Maiduguri, Kaduna, and Ilorin, ensuring they receive vital support for optimal training environments…”

If you live in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt, or you reside in any of the other state capitals, you probably take for granted that you actually live in the better of the two worlds that make up Nigeria when it comes to banking. Take Lagos, for example, you would find a bank in almost any corner you turn. You have many streets in business or commercial areas in the city that are lined up by nothing but banks in all their glory and magnificence. If a count is taken, it could be established that there are probably more bank branches in Lagos than any other branded business outlets or branded activity centres – if street stores and religious centres are excluded.
