IGP Baba elevates 21,039 junior police officers last promoted in 2017

Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has approved the promotion of 21,039 junior officers.

Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has approved the promotion of 21,039 junior officers.

The officers were last elevated on or before 2017.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi announced the approval in a statement on Thursday.

The promotion comprises 20,572 Sergeants to Inspector, 324 Corporals to Sergeants, and 143 Constables to Corporal.

Adejobi said it is part of efforts aimed at improving the welfare, conditions of service and boosting the morale of personnel for greater efficiency.

Baba assured that he remained committed to manpower development to ensure that deserving personnel are rewarded to encourage hard work.

The IGP informed senior police officers that the Force high command is liaising with the Police Service Commission (PSC) on the release of their promotion.

He commended the newly-promoted officers for their resilience and charged them to see their new ranks as a call for renewed zeal, vigour and patriotism to duty.
