Igbogbo Roads Beg For Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Attention

The residents of Igbogbo Community, in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA of Lagos State, have been crying loud and clear to the State Government to fix their bad roads, particularly the Obafemi Awolowo/ Bayeku Road, which has brought about many negative changes to the residents, such as hikes in the transport fare; delay on the roads due to potholes and swamps; and constant breakdown of vehicles.

The residents of Igbogbo Community, in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA of Lagos State, have been crying loud and clear to the State Government to fix their bad roads, particularly the Obafemi Awolowo/ Bayeku Road, which has brought about many negative changes to the residents, such as hikes in the transport fare; delay on the roads due to potholes and swamps; and constant breakdown of vehicles.


Igbogbo, an ancient town of over 500 years, known to be a land of Cool Beauty, but with all indications now, the community had recently turned to an unusual area to visit, due to its infrastructural decay. This has prompted the residents to call on immediate attention of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to fix their roads, MegaXpression Media reports.

In a letter written by one of the Indigenes of Igbogbo, Mr Shakiru Seidu, to Governor Sanwo-Olu, and Members of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa, Mr Seidu explained that all roads in Igbogbo are in dilapidated state, particularly Obafemi Awolowo/ Baiyeku Road, Igbogbo.
He informed the Governor and House Speaker that the roads in Igbogbo are in a current decrepit status, and have degenerated gradually over the years due to lack of maintenance, noting that the current situation of Obafemi Awolowo/Bayeku road might denied people of gaining access to over ten communities, while the economy of those communities would be totally grounded.

According to an open letter sent to Gov. Sanwo-Olu: “Mr Governor sir, your last visit to Igbogbo, precisely Wednesday, March 24, 2021, you said: “I have seen the state of Obafemi Awolowo/ Baiyeku road, I will arrange on how to award the road before the year runs out. We have also called on HITECH Contractor to speed up Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road, so that we can give our citizen a desire relieve that is required.”
“Omo Sanwo-Olu, the people of Igbogbo are yet to feel your words! All roads in Igbogbo are so bad! Igbogbo/Oreta, Igbogbo/Offin and Igbe Laara/ Ginti roads are in their sorry state, while the HITECH Contractor on Igbogbo/ Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe Road had adopted a snail method of road construction since 2017.
“Mainwhile, aside from the hardship infringed by these bad roads on the people of Igbogbo community, the scenario had equally put to questioning, the competence of our Representatives, Sen. Adetokunbo Mikhail Abiru, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Hon. Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka and other Community Leaders in Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA.

Adebimpe Akinsola, amongst other APC leaders in Igbogbo/ Baiyeku LCDA, can hardly sleep now because of the numerous complaints and agitations by the people.” 

Seidu, therefore called on the State Government to come to people’s aid in no time and rescue Igbogbo community from collapse, to avoid residents being PROTESTING.

While speaking with the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka, he said to Shakiru Seidu that he’s much aware of the challenges facing the people of Igbogbo, noting that he has raised the matter on the flour on Thursday, October 28, in which the House of Assembly Members have sent their resolution to the Governor.
