The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Tijani, confirmed the incident, stating that security agencies swiftly responded to the scene to prevent further danger and reassure the public.

According to the police chief, the explosive device was allegedly concealed beneath the passenger side of a parked vehicle and detonated when the vehicle’s engine was started, triggering a loud explosion that sent people fleeing for safety.

Following the blast, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operatives cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough search of the market and surrounding locations. Authorities later confirmed that no additional explosive devices were found.

One person sustained injuries in the incident and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials disclosed that the victim is in stable condition.

The Baale of Oke Mushin, Mr. Tajudeen Faronbi, said he received an early morning alert about the explosion and promptly contacted security agencies, leading to the rapid deployment of police and emergency responders.

Police have since commenced an investigation into the incident while urging residents to remain calm and report any suspicious objects or activities to security authorities.
