IBAN Honours Late Chief Raymond Dokpesi With Posthumous Award

Abuja – In a fitting tribute to his pioneering role in Nigerian broadcasting, the late Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of the country’s first private radio station, RayPower FM, was posthumously honoured at the inaugural IBAN Pioneers Awards. The award recognised his outstanding contributions to the media industry and his enduring impact on Nigerian broadcasting.

Abuja – In a fitting tribute to his pioneering role in Nigerian broadcasting, the late Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of the country’s first private radio station, RayPower FM, was posthumously honoured at the inaugural IBAN Pioneers Awards. The award recognised his outstanding contributions to the media industry and his enduring impact on Nigerian broadcasting.

The award was presented to Dokpesi’s son, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, during the 2nd Annual General Meeting and Broadcasters’ Conference of the Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (IBAN) at DAAR Communications Headquarters, Abuja. The Minister praised the late Chief Dokpesi for his foresight, innovation, and relentless efforts in shaping Nigeria’s broadcast landscape.

Receiving the award on behalf of his father, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., now Executive Chairman of DAAR Communications, expressed heartfelt gratitude to IBAN and pledged continued support for the independent broadcasting sector.

The conference, presided over by Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan, IBAN Chairman, attracted a wide array of participants, including government agencies, regulators, local and international media representatives, as well as stakeholders and collaborators from across the industry.
