The Honourable member representing Kosofe Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon is set to sponsor a football competition tagged “Okla Unity Cup” for grassroot teams within his Constituency.
He said the football competition is aimed at encouraging and boosting sport development, promote peace, unity among the youths and discover fresh football hidden talents among them.
Sixteen (16) grassroot teams (two teams from each ward and additional two teams) across Kosofe Constituency 1 will compete in the football competition. The teams were selected from Oworo, Orile Oworo, Araromi/Soluyi/ Ifako, Anthony, Mende, Ojota, and Ogudu.
The draws for the Competition will be done this coming Sunday and the matches starts on Monday 14th of March to Thursday 17th of March 2022 at Beko Ransom Kuti Youth Centre, ADEBAYO Mokuolu Street Anthony. The Semi-finals and final will hold on the 18th and 20th of March 2022 respectively at Araromi Youth Development Centre, Roundabout, Gbagada.
As part activities to make the football Competition a memorable one and ensure that participating teams put in their best, the lawmaker who is also the Chairman House Committee on Education (Ministry and Agencies) has earmarked attractive cash prizes for the winners including Trophies, medals, certificates, branded Jerseys, and souvenirs.
According to Hon Okanlawon, the winner of the Competition will get the sum of #500,000, Giant Gold Trophy, Branded Jerseys, Gold Medals and Certificates.
1st Runner Up will get #300,000, Branded Jerseys, Silver Medals and Certificates.
2nd Runner Up will get #200,000, Bronze Medals and Certificates.
There will also be Souvenirs for individual outstanding performance for; *Highest Goal Scorer, *The Most Valuable Player, *Best Keeper, *Best Coach, *Fair Play Team.
The Lagos lawmaker also known as The Pride Of Kosofe by constituents, is of the opinion that the competition will provide an avenue for his constituents to interact, exchange positive ideas and pleasantries as well as help to discourage the young ones from engaging in criminal activities.
