Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, joined residents of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government for the monthly Lagos Environmental Sanitation Exercise.
Hamzat, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, and the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Front, Hon Tokunbo Wahab, joined the Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, alongside residents, environmental officers, security agencies and other stakeholders for the exercise.
The participation of the Deputy Governor and the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Chairman underscored the importance attached to environmental cleanliness and the collective responsibility of government and residents in keeping Lagos clean.
Sharing highlights of the exercise on his Facebook page later in the evening, Hamzat said he was pleased to join residents in Amuwo-Odofin for the monthly sanitation exercise.
“Today, I joined residents in Amuwo-Odofin for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.”
The Deputy Governor emphasised that environmental cleanliness requires the active participation of everyone.
“Keeping Lagos clean is a shared responsibility. Every clean street and healthy community starts with a simple commitment to keep our surroundings clean.”
He thanked residents and other participants who came out to support the exercise.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to play their part,” Hamzat said.
Sanusi Mobilises Residents, Stakeholders
The Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, also participated actively in the exercise, describing environmental sanitation as a collective responsibility.
Sanusi said it was an honour to join the Deputy Governor and his wife, as well as residents and other stakeholders, for the exercise.
He commended the commitment displayed by leaders, residents, environmental officers, security agencies and other stakeholders who came together with a common purpose of keeping Amuwo-Odofin clean, healthy and safe.
The council chairman also acknowledged the presence of the APC candidate for the House of Representatives, Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency, Hon. Moses Olarewaju, alongside APC House of Assembly candidates and Hon. Folorunsho Ola Western.
Sanusi specially appreciated his wife, Dr. Omolara Sanusi; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ashara Maureen Chika; members of his administration; party leaders and stakeholders; environmental personnel; security agencies and all those who accompanied the Deputy Governor and supported the exercise.
According to the Chairman, the exercise served as another reminder that maintaining a clean environment is not the responsibility of government alone.
“Government will continue to provide leadership, but every resident has an important role to play in protecting our environment,” Sanusi stated.
He expressed appreciation to Deputy Governor Hamzat, his wife and all residents and stakeholders who participated, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to building a cleaner, healthier and better Amuwo-Odofin.
The monthly environmental sanitation exercise forms part of Lagos State’s continuing efforts to promote environmental cleanliness, public health and responsible citizenship across communities.
