What role for youths in Nigeria’s battle for development?

How do we tackle the challenges youths face?

These and more are some of the questions that will be tackled on Saturday at a symposium to mark Lagos State Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi HAMZAT’S 60th birthday. It is all about deepening youth engagement and national development.

The theme of the symposium is “Nigeria: Guiding the Youth on the Path of Self-Reliance”. The symposium will take place at the prestigious Victoria Garden Event, Alausa, Ikeja. The one-day event, besides exhibiting the contributions and commitment of Dr Hamzat to youth development in Lagos, is billed to encourage new networks and professional capacity building.

Apart from Dr Hamzat, who will be leading conversations at the conference, former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University Prof. Olanrewaju Fagboun will open the discussion with the topic, “Why Are We Here?”

At the symposium, youths will be informed about opportunities for growth in Lagos.

Dr Hamzat, a long-time youth development champion, would be providing ideas and opportunities for entrepreneurship and other leads to a better future for youths.

He will also be sharing his wealth of experience in leadership.

Accomplished young professionals, politicians, and leaders will also serve as panelists and will be championing advocacy for policies and initiatives that will provide young Nigerians with strategies for self-reliance.

Among the panelists are Mr Omobolaji Ogunlende, Commissioner for Youths and Social Development; Bisola Olusanya, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems ; Mr Tubosun Alake, Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology; Dr Rabiu Olowo, Executive Secretary and CEO of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria; Dr Funmi Tella and Zainab Alayande.
