Gyulai Istvan Memorial: Tobi Amusan beats Nia Ali, others to win her second race in 2 days

Africa’s Queen of the track, Tobi Amusan claimed her second consecutive victory in two days, racing to first position in the 100m hurdles event at the Gyulai István Memorial meet on Tuesday night.

Amusan continued her impressive form ahead of her world title defence with victory in the women’s 100m hurdles as she won the race with a time of 12.35s, her second fastest time in 2023.

American duo, Nia Ali (12.41s) and Lay Lay Johnson (12.50s) came second and third respectively.

It would be recalled that Amusan won the 100m hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday.

The 26-year-old has now won all four races she competed in this month.

Her return to form coincides with the forthcoming 2023 World Athletics Championship, where she is expected to defend her title.

Amusan had a stellar 2022, where she delivered brilliant performances at the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and World Athletics Championships. The Nigerian will defend her world title in Budapest, Hungary, next month.

The 2023 World Athletics Championship is billed to commence on August 19 through August 27 in Budapest, Hungary.
