“Government must do everything to restore confidence of youth in Nigeria” says Tayo Ayinde

The Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr Tayo Ayinde, has called on government at all level to do everything to restore the confidence of the youth in Nigeria by creating opportunities for them to achieve their full potentials.

The Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr Tayo Ayinde, has called on government at all level to do everything to restore the confidence of the youth in Nigeria by creating opportunities for them to achieve their full potentials.

Ayinde stated that the rate at which the youths were migrating abroad should be a cause for concern, adding that the Lagos state government and the federal government were working hard to address.

He made these remarks at the 2024 Youth Leadership Conference held on Saturday at the University of Lagos, Akoka.

Ayinde who was represented by his Personal Assistant, Mr Peter Ajayi, said there is need for ‘mind shift’ by all Nigerians most especially the youths for the country to experience fundamental progress.

He added ” It is a global fact that the strength and greatness of any nation is determined by the quality of its youths; this is why this conference, aimed at empowering, educating, inspiring, igniting and molding the minds of the youth into global leaders, who can make a difference in their environment and change the world for greater good is a most welcome development.

“The theme of the conference “Mind Shift” speaks to a fundamental requirement that everybody especially young people must embrace in order to make any meaningful progress and live a fulfilled life in a globalized world. It is about perspective, beliefs, attitudes, or mindset which determines how individuals will approach challenges, or interact with others. It is about viewing the cup as being half full and not half empty; embracing new ideas, concepts, or philosophies that lead to personal growth, innovation, and progress.

“In essence, a mind shift represents a profound alteration in mental frameworks that can result in expanded understanding, enhanced problem-solving abilities, and a more open-minded and flexible approach to life’s difficulties”.

“I am very happy to have been invited to be part of this discuss as it resonates with the developmental agenda of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration particularly for the youth and women of our state. We have launched various programs aimed at bringing about a positive mindset change and rekindling their hope in the future of not only the State but also the country. For instance, Lagos State is currently partnering with the Federal government to build the first ever Medical University which will among others address the challenge of mass brain drain in the health sector. The need for a paradigm shift in mindset cuts across all facets of our population. In the Lagos State Public Service, there is the Office of Transformation Creativity and Innovation through which series of programs under the broad title “Moving From A Fixed To A Growth Mindset” are being implemented. This initiative is aimed at bringing about a positive shift in the mindset of the entire workforce in the State Public Service.

“I am certain that this program will be a game changer because a growth mindset believes that one’s abilities and intelligence can be developed and improved over time through dedication, effort, and resilience, and Individuals with a growth mindset see challenges, setbacks, and failures as opportunities for learning and growth”, said Ayinde
