Osogbo, Osun State – December 2, 2025

Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as FRYO, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Osun 2026 Governorship Election, defeating incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke in a decisive primary.

The primary election, held in Osogbo on Tuesday under tight security, saw FRYO secure 919 votes out of 957 valid accredited delegates, while Governor Adeleke, whose name still appeared on the ballot despite his recent resignation from the party, polled just 38 votes.

The results underscore FRYO’s overwhelming support among delegates and mark a significant shift in the Osun PDP’s political dynamics ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial contest.

Party insiders noted that Adeleke’s resignation prior to the primary highlighted ongoing administrative challenges within the state PDP, but did not prevent his name from being included on the ballot paper.

FRYO’s victory sets the stage for a high-stakes election, with attention now turning to his campaign strategy as he prepares to challenge other contestants in the run-up to the state governorship poll.
