The League of Former Ward Chairmen of the Progressives in Ikeja Federal Constituency has expressed appreciation to Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for his support to members of the group who were recently appointed as Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers in the Executive Council of Ikeja Local Government.

The Coordinator of the League, Comrade Tayo Aderinola, made this known during a thanksgiving tribute following an interfaith prayer session held for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Faleke and prospective candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aderinola noted that the recent appointments signalled a new era of recognition for former ward chairmen who had served the party diligently at the grassroots level.
“Before now, many ward chairmen who served the party meritoriously were often left to their fate after their tenure. We are therefore grateful to our visionary and compassionate leader, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, for recognising our contributions to grassroots political development,” he said.
He added that the development had rekindled hope among committed party members, noting that several former ward chairmen have now been entrusted with leadership roles in local governance.

According to him, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda; the Vice Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Hon. Funmilayo Layeni; as well as himself and Alhaji Saheed Ekundayo, who were recently appointed into the Ikeja Local Government Executive Council, are all former ward chairmen.

Aderinola said the appointments demonstrated Faleke’s commitment to rewarding loyalty, experience and dedication within the party structure.
The one-hour interfaith prayer session featured supplications offered in both Islamic and Christian traditions for national and party leaders, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as APC candidates expected to contest in the 2027 general elections.
