LAGOS — As Nigeria intensifies efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil, agriculture and non-oil exports are increasingly taking centre stage as key drivers of economic growth, job creation, food security and foreign exchange earnings.

Against this backdrop, FirstBank of Nigeria Limited will host the 5th edition of its Agric and Export Expo on September 16 and 17, 2026, with the theme: “From Farm to Global Markets: Building Nigeria’s Export Value Chain.”

The two-day event is expected to provide a high-level platform for policymakers, regulators, agribusiness executives, farmers, exporters, investors and development partners to exchange ideas and examine practical strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural value chain and improving the country’s access to international markets.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address, where he will share insights into improving agricultural productivity, strengthening food systems and unlocking the sector’s potential to contribute more significantly to Nigeria’s economic development.

The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Bago, will deliver a goodwill message at the event.

The Expo will also feature contributions from prominent players across Nigeria’s agriculture, manufacturing and export sectors, including Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, Managing Director/CEO, Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited; Taiwo Ayoade, Deputy Managing Director, Agro Traders Limited and Plantation Industries Limited; Sunil Kumar Chauhan, Managing Director/CEO, Dangote Fertiliser Limited; Ayodele Abioye, Managing Director/CEO, BUA Foods Plc; Dr. Agboola Zubayr Belgore, Managing Director, Amo Byng Nigeria Limited; and Amit Bose, Chief Financial Officer, Valency Agro Nigeria.

Discussions at the Expo are expected to focus on emerging international market opportunities, export financing, value addition, technology and innovation, agricultural productivity, market access and policy frameworks required to position Nigerian businesses to compete effectively in the global marketplace.

Now in its fifth year, the FirstBank Agric and Export Expo has established itself as an important platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, innovation and investment within Nigeria’s agriculture and export ecosystem.

For farmers, exporters, agribusiness owners, investors and entrepreneurs, the Expo presents an opportunity to gain industry insights, connect with key stakeholders, explore financing and market opportunities, and build partnerships capable of driving sustainable growth.
