Next Cash and Carry Mall, one of Abuja’s biggest shopping malls has been gutted by fire.
The mall which is situated in the Jahi Area of the Federal Capital Territory went up in flames around 10:00 am Sunday morning.
Thick smoke can be seen around the mall as emergency operatives tried to salvage the situation.
The cause of the fire is unknown at the time of this report.
The roads have however been closed and the fire service are still trying to contain the fire.
According to reports, firefighters were late arriving at the scene of the sad tragedy, resulting in a tremendous loss of expensive objects.
As the fire grew increasingly fierce, a camera captured some residents taking away some valuable items from the supermarket.
Individuals were moving items such as foams, drinks, and so on. We can’t tell if the residents were simply assisting in their small way or if they took advantage of the unfortunate circumstances to steal from the mall.
