FG Unveils E-gates, CNG Buses At Lagos Airport

The Federal Government has inaugurated a new electronic gate (E-gate) at the departure wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

The Federal Government has inaugurated a new electronic gate (E-gate) at the departure wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

The inauguration was unveiled by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo on Friday.

The minister who disclosed in a post on his X handle, explained that the E-gate is to enhance passenger comfort and security, underscoring the government’s dedication to improving Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.

Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director, joined the minister at the commissioning ceremony Keyamo noted, that the E-gate project, funded by the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with FAAN, aims to streamline passenger facilitation while bolstering airport security measures.

“In addition to the E-gates, Keyamo and FAAN leadership unveiled four newly acquired Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered airport transit buses. The eco-friendly buses, designed with accessibility features for persons with disabilities, are part of Nigeria’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and meeting global climate targets.

“These improvements reflect our commitment to enhancing passenger experience and ensuring Nigeria’s aviation sector meets international standards. The minister highlighted that the introduction of the E-gates and CNG buses represents significant progress in Nigeria’s aviation sector, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in driving development.
