The purported Vote of No Confidence on the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr Muheeba Dankaka by some Commissioners has been discovered to be false as no such event took place.
An online news medium had published the report.
FCC has been in the news recently over massive employment racketeering, a development that brought about probe by the National Assembly.
Investigations, however, revealed that while there was indeed a meeting of the Commissioners on Thursday, 10 August, 2023, it was normal and routine meeting of the Commissioners with the Chairman.
“It was our usual meeting and nothing of such was discussed. The publication was false and reading through it, the writer of the story and the medium should cover their heads in shame.
“We had our routine meeting and these minority people got our usual attendance list and said we passed a vote of no confidence. Nothing of such happened,” an FCC Commissioner told this medium.
Another Commissioner stated that there is no reason for such vote since the Chairman is doing well and proceedings at the Committee have exonerated Dr Dankaka of any wrongdoing.
“The minority group have lost out. They’re now desperate. The proceedings at the House of Representatives Committee have exonerated our Chairman, and they’re not happy about this. They’re desperate. We never passed any Vote of No Confidence on the Chairman,” the Commissioner said.
