An underwhelming England were held to a goalless draw by Scotland at Wembley on Friday night.
England knew victory would seal their progress to the round of 16 with a match to spare, but Gareth Southgate’s side struggled to impress with captain Harry Kane — withdrawn in the second half — touching the ball just 19 times.
England dominated possession but Scotland had more shots on goal and more shots on target, with Jordan Pickford producing a superb save to keep out a Stephen O’Donnell effort. Reece James was also required to clear Lyndon Dykes’ shot off the line.
Scotland will next take on Croatia at Hampden Park, while England face the Czech Republic at Wembley Stadium. Both fixtures will be played on Tuesday, June 22.
