Eti Osa Local Government play host to members of the Local Government Service Commission

The bi-annual visitation of The Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries and other functionaries to Eti-Osa Local Government was welcomed by all, the members of staff led by the indefatigable Chairman Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole, the Head of Administration council key functionaries.

The Chairman Local Government Service commission Hon. Kamal Ayinde Bayewu, after a brief meeting with the Executive Chairman addressed the members of Staff, expressing his pleasure at the display of support and synergy between the staff and the political office holders. Stating that it is their duty to check on staff and ensure their welfare and performance at discharging their duties.

The Executive Chairman addressing the guests commended the staff, members of the Legislative council and most especially the management team for working alongside with him to always actualize his goals. He promised to continue in his unwavering support for the staff through better welfare packages and other forms of support as the need might arise.

The staff were addressed and salient issues were discussed such as general staff attendance and absenteeism was discouraged. The PS Local Government Service commission Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye enjoined all to read and understand the statutes guiding the civil service, and practice addressed issues following the appropriate chanel. He also implored staff who are of the habit of forging and presenting fake documents to desist from such practices, as they would be severely punished if caught.

The PS Local Government Establishment Training and Pensions, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa also addressed the staff on the importance of staff training and ensuring they attend training whenever they are scheduled to do so. She stressed that upon returning from the training it is expected that a knowledge transfer session holds to enable the trained staff pass on such knowledge and experience gained from training to the rest of the staff members. She talked on seeking approval when proceeding to further studies as there is no provision for retrospective approval for studies in the civil service. She equally advised that staff are expected to accept any deployment and resume to the new places of assignment as soon as they collect their release letters.

The Head of Administration, Mr Wasiu Akintola Adebowale responded by assuring the commissioners on a better performance from the Local Government in terms of revenue generation as the target for 1st quarter was 81% achieved. He also assured that work is on progress to build and ensure staff have a conducive working environment.
