Senator Tokunbo Abiru has demonstrated a strong commitment to the economic empowerment of entrepreneurs in Lagos East Senatorial District through various capacity development initiatives. From 2020 to 2024, Senator Abiru has engaged in several impactful programmes aimed at enhancing the business skills and opportunities of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the district.
1. *Business Capacity Workshop/Clinic:* In partnership with The Fate Foundation and Standard Chartered Foundation, Senator Abiru organized a workshop/ clinic that benefited 1000 MSMEs across the Senatorial district. This initiative provided entrepreneurs with valuable insights, skills, and tools to grow their businesses and navigate challenges effectively.
2. *Constituency Intervention Revolving Loan:* Senator Abiru established a N300 million Constituency Intervention Revolving Loan scheme with a concessionary 6% per annum interest rate. This initiative has provided much-needed financial support to entrepreneurs in the district, enabling them to access affordable capital to grow their businesses. *To date, over 1,000 MSMEs have benefited from the loan scheme.*
