Education District IV Holds 18th Annual Merit Award Ceremony For Teachers, Staff

The Lagos State Education District IV has held its 18th Annual Merit Award ceremony to recognise and reward outstanding teachers as well as with a charge to rededicate to duties.

In her address at the ceremony held recently at the Government Senior College Hall, Eric Moore, Sabo-Yaba, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo said the event with the theme: “Building The Budding Leaders”, was organised to celebrate the exceptional teachers and staff under the District.

Adefisayo, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Abolaji Abayomi, congratulated the awardees for their diligence in the discharge of their duties, stating that the annual ceremony was designed to encourage all members of staff to strive harder for efficient service delivery.

The Chairman, Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Elizabeth Ariyo, represented by Commissioner II, TESCOM, Alhaja Smith enjoined the staff to be more dedicated in the delivery of their duties.

She also commended Mr. Olusegun Osinaike for his style of leadership, just as she advised the teachers to continue to teach and guide the students appropriately, adding that the awards should serve as a form of motivation for them to do more.

Earlier, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mr. Olusegun Osinaike expressed his appreciation to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his keen interest and continuous support towards the education sector in the State.

Osinaike said: “The theme of this year’s merit award was painstakingly chosen to demonstrate our desire to Discover, Nurture and Expose our students to become great leaders in the future. This event was also conceived to recognise and reward outstanding and hardworking members of staff who have conscientiously discharged their duties effectively and efficiently in the last 12 months”.
