DSS releases Omoyele Sowore

Sowore regains freedom.

The Department of State Services has finally complied with the court orders directing it to release the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, from custody.

This comes hours after the Federal Government ordered the security agency to release him, as well as former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

After regaining his freedom, Mr Sowore was escorted out of the headquarters of the service by Abubakar Marshal, a lawyer from the chambers of Femi Falana.

The founder of online news agency, Sahara Reporters, chanted ‘Revolution Now and Forever’, and wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas, while leaving the DSS office.

On Mr Dasuki’s part, his documents are still being processed before his release.

Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, says the decision to release them is in compliance with the bail granted to the two by the court.

He added the two defendants should observe the terms of their bail and refrain from engaging in any act that is inimical to public peace and national security as well as their ongoing trial which will run its course in accordance with the laws of the land.
