The Defence Headquarters has refuted a report published by an online news outlet claiming that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, is dead.

The Defence’s spokesperson, Tukur Gusau, in a statement on Tuesday, described the report as “unfortunate, unethical, and lack credibility.”

Gusau said that General Musa is “alive and hearty”, adding that he has recently returned from an official assignment aboard and has resumed his duties with renewed vigour.

“To put the records straight the CDS, General CG Musa is alive and hearty. The Chief of Defence Staff, who just returned from an official assignment outside the country, has resumed work with more vigour to continue with his uncommon leadership style to prosper the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Gusau stated.

Gusau also noted that the online newspaper has since retracted the news story and offered its unreserved apology to the CDS, his family and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Tinubu speaks on the dangers and how to end farmers/herders crisis (full text)

Sadly, others who should know better have incited matters by tossing about hate-tainted statements that fall dangerously short of the leadership these people claim to provide. We all must get hold of our better selves to treat this matter with the sobriety it requires.
