On the 16th of December 2021, 1,051 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria

Till date, 221,071 cases have been confirmed, 211,345 cases have been discharged and 2983 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

The 1,051 new cases are reported from 11 States; Lagos (599), FCT (238), Rivers (79), Oyo (51), Ondo (32), Plateau (20), Akwa Ibom (11), Ogun (7), Bayelsa (5), Kano (5), and Kwara (4)

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities
