Council Poll: APC Ikeja Chairmanship candidate, AKOD garners support from CDA, CAN, Imams and others

On Saturday, the heavy rainfall failed to deter the large gathering of residents from Ikeja Ward E, who convened at John Akinjide street, to demonstrate their support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chairmanship candidate, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, AKOD, and his running mate, Hon Abisola Omisore, in the lead-up to the Local Government election scheduled for July 12, 2025, encompassing six Community Development Association, Christian Association of Nigeria, League of Imams, artisans, Arewa, Igbo and South-South Groups within the Ward.

The interactive session was moderated by Maiyegun Dally Adeokun, LGA Chairman of the party and leader of the APC Ikeja LOC for the Akeem Dauda/Abisola Omisore Chairmanship and Vice chairmanship campaign, who introduced the Councillorship Candidate of the party for the Ward, Hon Babatunde Adefolami to the gathering and also invited the APC Ikeja Apex leader and former State Vice Chairman of the party Chief Funso Ologunde to make an opening remark.

Chief Ologunde urged stakeholders at the event to place their trust in the APC Chairmanship candidate, advising them to mobilize comprehensive support for the candidate’s and party’s victory in the 12th of July Lagos Local Government election.

Dr. Rotimi Oyekunle, Chairman of Muri Busari/Oloti Residents Association (MOERA CDA), expressed gratitude to the chairmanship candidate for the interactive session, noting it as an indication of Hon. Dauda’s sincerity. He requested the reconstruction of roads within the estate on behalf of MOERA CDA.

Elder Tijani Rasheed, Representative of Seriki-Aro CDA, thanked the APC Ikeja Chairmanship candidate for the opportunity to express community needs and raised concerns about shallow drainages, requesting wider drainage reconstruction within the Seriki-Aro community.

On behalf of the six CDAs within the Seriki-Aro/Adeniyi Jones/Awolowo way, Dr Aniefiok Davis Idiong, Chairman of Modupe/Awolowo CDA, expressed gratitude and readiness to collaborate with AKOD/OMISORE APC Ikeja chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates for Ikeja’s sustainable development.

The APC Ikeja Local Government Chairmanship candidate, Hon Akeem Dauda, expressed his gratitude to the CDAs, ethnic groups and religious leaders for taking the time to engage in a consultative interaction aimed at fostering a relationship between him and the entire Ikeja Local Government community, with a view to understanding the needs of the Ikeja people and integrating them with his blueprint, manifesto and campaign promises.

He promised to address their respective requests within the council’s resource capabilities.

Hon Dauda indicated that, as chairman-elect of Ikeja local government, he would carry on with community consultations to ascertain and prioritize their immediate requirements.

In a conversation with Lagos Panorama at the event, Mr Alex Dairo, Secretary of Ogunlowo/Regina Coker (ORCACDA), conveyed appreciation to Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, ranking member of the House of Representatives, for his consistent support and outstanding contributions.

He said, “We, the peope and families of the Ogunlowo/ Regina Coker (ORCACDA), extend our Thank you for making a difference”.

“We hereby pledge to support your continued good work and promote your achievements, fostering a stronger connection between you and our community”.

“Heartfelt gratitude for your kindness and impactful initiatives in our constituency”.

He appealed to the ranking Federal Lawmaker, who has introduced solar-powered streetlights in Ikeja Federal Constituency’s nooks and crannies, to boost security, “We respectfully appeal to your good office to kindly extend the Light Up Ikeja Project to our community”.

Other stakeholders that declared their endorsement and support at the Ward E interaction with AKOD/OMISORE include artisans, the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, League of Imams, Arewa Group, Ndigbo and South-South groups.
