Lagos, Africa’s biggest city and business hub of Nigeria has initiated a total lockdown, with the restriction of all movement of people and closure of businesses and offices to stem the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

The lockdown which commenced on Monday at 11 p.m. and will last for an initial period of two weeks, was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s order during a live broadcast on Sunday.

The lock also affects Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory. The three areas in the country have been hit hardest by the coronavirus.

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the country has risen to 135, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced Tuesday morning in an update on its website.
