Coronavirus Lockdown: Former council chairman fete Alausa community

A former council chairman of the Ikeja local government council, Mayor Alani Saidi Okikioposu has also joined the array of philanthropically donors in the fight against the deadly coronavirus as he gave out a cow and food items to the Alausa community in Ikeja Local Government on Thursday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain said that he was inspired by the way and manner the APC Ward Executive of Alausa equitably shared the palliative contributed by the Executive Chairman Ikeja Local Government Dr Mojeed Balogun and the love shown by the APC Southwest Women Leader Chief Mrs Olukemi Nelson when she contributed N1.5M to the residents of Ikeja Federal Constituency to ease the stress occasioned by the coronavirus lockdown.

Okikioposu spoke with Lagos Panorama stated that “I am impressed with the way and manner the ward leadership and executives shared the food palliative and other items contributed by the council chairman Engr. Mojeed Balogun to ameliorate the hardship caused by the lockdown”.

“To support the Chairman’s good gesture, I decided to make my own little contribution to my immediate community and also emulating Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson who said the war against the coronavirus must be total and everyone’s concern”.

The Councillor Alausa ‘Ward F’ Ikeja, Hon Basheer Nurudeen in a chat with Lagos Panorama at the occasion stated that he wasn’t surprised with the philanthropic gesture of the former council chairman.

He noted that “In spite that we have lockdown, Mayor Okikioposu has always supported the ward, the gesture is not surprising to me and I am sure to the executives too because he has always been philanthropically supportive to the ward and Ikeja generally.

Hon Lateef Ajenifuja a Special Adviser to the Chairman Ikeja Local Government also give kudos to the former chairman and other leaders in Ikeja who have contributed to ease the suffering of the downtrodden.

“I commend all our leaders namely Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, Hon James Faleke, Council Chairman Hon Mojeed Balogun and other leaders in Ikeja who have contributed to support our people in this difficult time of fight against the coronavirus”.

Onovo Tracy the ward Organizing Secretary, on behalf of the ward, expressed gratitude to Alhaji Okikioposu for his continuous contributions to the Alausa community and pray for the eradication of the coronavirus.

The Leader of the Igbo-Vision in Ikeja, Chief Gilbert Oluchukwu also expressed appreciation “we thank our leader Alhaji Alani Okikioposu for this kind gesture at this hard time, he gave us this cow and rice to support the effort of the council Chairman Engr Mojeed Balogun who had send palliatives to all the wards in Ikeja”.
