Community Media Practitioners elects executives, Aderinola emerges as President

The Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (COMPASS) on Tuesday held its first election in Ikeja, under a peaceful, free and fair atmosphere.

The ten positions were occupied by people of integrity and unquestionable characters from different media houses across Lagos State.

The newly elected Officers include:

1: Omotayo Aderionla of Lagos Panorama, as President.

2: Tony Okpe, Lagos Watch, as Vice President.

3: Sheriff Owolabi, Shomolu News, as Gen. Secretary.

4: Felix Godonu, Badagry Prime, as Treasurer.

5. Shakiru Seidu, MegaXpression Community Magazine, as PRO.

6: Maureen Ogolor, WAZOBIA FM, as Fin. Sec.

7: Nwosa Jennifer, Community Sky, as Welfare Officer.

8: Sola Olugbenro, Ikeja City Mag., as Social Secretary.

9: Olukayode Odujirin, The Providence, as Internal Auditor.

10: Adewale Oguniran, Integrity Reports, as Ass. Sec.

While speaking with the newly elected President, Omotayo Aderinola the Publisher/Editor of Lagos Panorama, he was delighted and applauded the process the exercise was conducted without any irregularities.

“On behalf of the executives, I want to sincerely thank everyone who participated one way or the other to the success of what I will call free, fair and credible election held today. This is to show that we’re indivisible in our quest to hit the ground running to push our association to the next level. As media practitioners we have set the standard for our politicians to emulate. Politics shouldn’t be a do or die but sincerity of purpose to serve the people”.

“This is a team work, so we must all be committed to the growth and progress of the association (COMPASS) while I’m also assuring you that our tenure will be piloted and guided with the theme for this tenure tagged “Work and Pray”. he opined

Aderinola further appealed to all members to cooperate and support the newly elected officials of the association where and when necessary in order for them to achieve the target goals and move the association to the next level.

The election was conducted under peaceful atmosphere and had notable members of the association in attendance. While those who were not physically present due to unforeseen situation were given the opportunity to vote online to afford all members the opportunity to participate in what was admonished by all in attendance as free and fair election.

While those who lost at the poll congratulated the winners as they urged the executives to always remember to carry the members along in all the activities of the association.

However, the election exercise was the first of its kind in the history of the association, while the pioneer executives has been handed the mandate to run the affairs of the association for the next two years as the tenure expires in 2021.
