The Personal Assistant to veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Lere Paimo MFR, has dismissed widespread social media reports claiming the legendary thespian has passed away, describing the rumours as “a figment of imagination.”
Ariyo, the Personal Assistant, confirmed that Chief Paimo—popularly known as Eda Onileola—is alive and in good health.
“Baba is very much alive; he is not dead. I am with him as we speak, and there is absolutely nothing like that. Baba is only asleep,” he said.
He added that false reports about the actor’s death have become an “annual ritual” by certain bloggers seeking attention.
The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) also issued an official statement refuting the rumours. In the announcement signed by its National PRO, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the association urged Nigerians to disregard the misinformation and verify news before sharing.
“Baba Eda, Chief Lere Paimo MFR, is NOT dead. He is alive and well,” the statement read.
The ANTP further confirmed that Chief Paimo’s wife had personally verified his stable condition.
The statement condemned those circulating the false reports, describing them as “unscrupulous individuals,” and reminded the public that Chief Paimo, who serves as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of ANTP, remains hale and hearty.
The association appealed to the public to exercise caution and ensure proper verification to prevent the spread of misleading information.
