Club are 11th in the Premier League after a significant slump in results

Chelsea have parted ways with head coach Graham Potter after less than seven months in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The club sit 11th in the Premier League following a home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, with a Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid on the horizon.

Bruno Saltor will take interim charge with Chelsea confirming: “Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.”

In a club statement on Sunday, Chelsea’s co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said: “On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.”

Potter was hired in September on the strength of impressive spells at Ostersunds FK, Swansea City and Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, Potter has been unable to push Chelsea from mid-table towards the European places and struggled to forge a connection with the club’s supporters.
