The campaign posters of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, for the 2023 presidential race, have surfaced in some areas of Lagos.

The posters may well signal the beginning of the plan to drag the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele into the race.

SaharaReporters which sighted the Emefiele posters in Surulere, said it read: “We the people work to manifest…not as career politicians…Godwin Ifeanyichukwu Emefiele…Would you lead THE CHARGE 2023.”

According to SaharaReporters, Emefiele is being railroaded into the presidential race by a cabal close to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The cabal is being led by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, the news platform said.

President Buhari once indicated in an interview that his preferred successor is someone that can be eliminated if he discloses his name.

At the moment within the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the front runner.

Other aspirants are Governor Dave Umahi, Senators Orji Kalu and Rochas Okorocha. It is expected that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will also formally join the race to cap the work of his foot-soldiers round the country.

Emefiele’s supporters were spotted with white T-Shirts with the inscription MEFFY 2023 at an occasion held in Lagos to draft him into the race.

Convener of the group, Wale Fapohunda, had told the gathering that since Emefiele’s appointment as CBN Governor, he had spent his energy building a resilient financial system that can serve the development needs of the economy.

As SaharaReporters found out, he ignored the glaring fact that Nigeria’s economy had dipped to its worst state ever during Emefiele’s tenure as CBN governor.Tags:  Godwin Emefiele
