Holder Manchester United crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday after losing 0-3 to visiting Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

It was the second win for Newcastle at Old Trafford since 1972.

First-half goals from substitute Miguel Almiron and Lewis Hall, his first for the club, were followed up by a solo effort from Joe Willock on the hour to give Newcastle their biggest away win over their hosts in 97 years as they cruised into the quarter-finals, according to BBC.

United have now lost eight of their opening 15 games for the first time since the 1962-63 season

The defeat is coming three days after Manchester City crush United 3-0 in a league game at the Old Trafford.

For the first goal, Tino Livramento had won the ball in his own half down in the right back position and he sets off. He breezed past Mason Mount and then picked out Miguel Almiron in behind the defence on the right who slotted the ball in.

Lewis Hall made it 0-2 for the visitors. Joe Willock who was on the left in the box was allowed to twist and turn and sent over a cross. It was headed away but only as far as Lewis Hall, who volleyed an effort into the far corner.

Joe Willock was found 40 yards from goal and allowed to run to the edge of the box and slotted his shot into the bottom corner for Newcastle’s third goal.
