The schoolgirls abducted from Government Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara early last Friday have been freed.

Respite may have come the way of the 317 kidnapped schoolgirls of Government Secondary School, Jangebe in Zamfara State following the news filtering in this afternoon that they have been released by the bandits.

They are also said to be currently in the palace of the Emir of Anka waiting for transportation to Gusau, the state capital.

The girls who were kidnapped on Friday night were believed to have been taken to a forest by their abductors who were reportedly said to have disguised as security personnel.

Multiple sources said the girls were kept in the forest between Dangulbi and Sabon Birnin Banaga in the Mary Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Like in the case of the released Kagara, Niger State students and teachers, no details have been given if the authorities paid any ransom before the schoolgirls regained their freedom.

Abduction of school children has become fashionable for the bandits and terrorists operating majorly in the northern part of Nigeria.
