The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, on Thursday hosted the periodic meeting of the Lagos West II Council Chairmen Forum, where members received the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. (Princess) Damilola Sonayon-James, for a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening party unity, deepening grassroots mobilisation and consolidating support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, chaired by the Executive Chairman of Iba LCDA, Hon. Yisa Abiola Jubril, brought together council chairmen from across Lagos West II, including the Forum Secretary, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe (Ajeromi-Ifelodun LG), Hon. Babatunde Hunpe (Badagry LG), Hon. (Princess) Muhibat Titilola Rufai-Adeyemi (Ojo LG), Hon. Prince Lanre Sanusi (Amuwo-Odofin LG), Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (Olorunda LCDA), Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren (Badagry West LCDA), Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun (Otto-Awori LCDA), Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede (Oriade LCDA), and Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo (Ifelodun LCDA).
During the meeting, the forum commended the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, describing the Renewed Hope Agenda as a transformative roadmap that has laid the foundation for sustainable national growth and development. The chairmen pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation across their respective councils to deliver resounding victories for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, particularly President Tinubu, the Lagos State governorship ticket of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Hon. (Princess) Damilola Sonayon-James, as well as every other APC candidate.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. (Princess) Damilola Sonayon-James applauded the council chairmen for their unwavering commitment to grassroots development and party cohesion. She stressed that the APC’s greatest strength lies in the dedication of its leaders at the grassroots and called for sustained unity, stronger collaboration and continuous engagement with stakeholders to further strengthen public confidence in the party.
Welcoming the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate and members of the forum, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe described the meeting as another demonstration of the APC’s enduring tradition of consultation, unity and collective leadership.
He noted that local government leaders remain committed to advancing the party’s developmental agenda while ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by the council chairmen to strengthen APC structures at the grassroots, promote inclusive governance and sustain collaborative efforts towards securing another electoral victory for the party in Lagos State in 2027.
