Hundreds of members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Badagry Division, comprising Ojo, Amuwo-Odofin, and Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Areas, on Tuesday converged at the party’s State Secretariat in Acme, Lagos, to express their solidarity and support for the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi.

The party faithful, who turned out in large numbers, praised the state leadership for the peaceful, transparent, and successful conduct of the recently concluded APC primary elections. The gathering was marked by songs, chants, and commendations for the chairman, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and other party leaders for ensuring a free, fair, and credible electoral process.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the vocal youth leader, Comrade Tijani Saheed, said the solidarity visit was aimed at appreciating the state chairman for creating an enabling atmosphere that allowed Badagry Division to produce the APC Deputy Governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos State Governorship Election, Mrs. Damilola James Sonayan.

Saheed expressed the division’s gratitude to the party leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of APC members in the area to mobilize massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Lagos APC governorship ticket, and all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

In his response, Hon. Ojelabi thanked the delegation for their unwavering support and continued faith in the ideals and principles of the APC. He noted that the recently concluded primaries reflected the provisions of the Electoral Act, which allows candidates to emerge through consensus arrangements or direct primary elections.

The APC chairman also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting an inclusive democratic process that guarantees party members the opportunity to participate in selecting their representatives.

While acknowledging that no political party is perfect, Ojelabi assured members that the APC would continue to improve its internal processes and strengthen party democracy.

He emphasized that with the primaries concluded, the party’s attention is now focused on the general elections. He urged members to remain united and work collectively for the growth, progress, and electoral success of the APC.

According to him, a reconciliation committee has already been established to engage aggrieved members and foster unity across the party, with the ultimate goal of securing victory in future elections.

Ojelabi concluded by encouraging members to come out en masse during the 2027 general elections and vote for all APC candidates, stressing that such support would further strengthen the party’s commitment to youth inclusion and leadership opportunities, as demonstrated by the emergence of what would be the youngest Deputy Governor in Lagos State’s history.
